Inverness Strategy

Inverness Strategy is our shared approach to communicating priorities and responsibilities for development and investment across your city and area.

The online StoryMap tracks activity across public, private and community sectors, to make it clearer what is being done to benefit the places where we live, work, visit and invest - what projects intend to deliver, when they appear likely to happen and who is responsible. The StoryMap draws together a vast number of current projects and opportunities for the future into a single overview. In this way, Inverness Strategy makes the case that the many activities and investments across the area can build on one another towards a much bigger, collective vision.

Inverness Strategy is also intended to bring forward this partnership vision for the future. Draft priorities within the StoryMap are based on existing plans and strategies, as well as engagement with stakeholders across our communities, business and partner agencies. It is the beginning of a prospectus for partnership working across the city and area to promote Inverness as the hub of economic, social and cultural activity in Highland. Improving the coordination, funding and delivery of existing and emerging plans, projects and workstreams, the Strategy will ensure Inverness and the City Centre, in particular, remain Highland's prime destination for those who live, work, visit and invest here.

To further refine the online overview and draft vision for the future which it represents, we will be carrying out further engagement in November 2024, including:

  • a public showcase and drop-in at Inverness Town House, Tuesday 26 November 2024, 2pm to 7pm
  • business engagement, involving the city Business Improvement District, Visit Inverness Loch Ness, and Chamber of Commerce
  • the StoryMap, where there are opportunities to provide your feedback and views
  • our Ideas Board, where you can comment on the vision, priorities and important projects
