The Scottish Government has responsibility for the trunk road network and their roads agency Transport Scotland has contracted out the work of maintaining Highland trunk roads to BEAR Scotland and AMEY. AMEY maintains the A96 between Inverness and Aberdeen and the A95 from Aviemore to Keith. BEAR Scotland maintains the other trunk roads in Highland.
