Taxis and Private Hire Cars - Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Public Register
In accordance with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010, licensing authorities must publish a register containing details of all licensed wheelchair accessible vehicles in their areas. The public register for Highland is maintained to reflect updates and can be found online here. Alternative formats, including hard copies, are available by contacting us.
NEW - Important notice for applicants for taxi and private hire car (PHC) drivers licences and taxi/PHC booking office licences. From 2 October 2023 new HMRC Check Code requirements will be introduced. Please click here for further details and what you require to do
Applications can be submitted either using the on-line facility on the relevant pages of the Council's website or by scanning application forms, documents etc. and e-mailing them to licensing@highland.gov.uk.

- Credit or debit card
- Guidance notes
- Driving licence
- Passport photos
- Current licence
- Vehicle registration document
- Insurance
- MOT certificate
Surcharges for card payments
Following a change to the law, as from 13 January 2018 taxi/ PHC operators/drivers will no longer be permitted to charge an additional fee to those customers who wish to pay by credit or debit card.
