Funding for business

We are committed to encouraging and supporting enterprise and small business growth within the Highlands. In addition and complementary to its provision of one-to-one support, local workshops, and specialist advice provided through its Business Gateway Highland service, the Council has a range of grants and loan finance available.

If your business idea or expansion proposals require investment finance, you are asked to make contact with Business Gateway Highland who will discuss your business plans, give you advice on a wide range of funding packages for your business and manage access to the Council's grant schemes and loan finance from Highland Council's UK Financial Conduct Authority approved loan company Highland Opportunity (Investments) Limited.

In the Highland local authority area you could be eligible for grant support from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. If you are a start-up business there is a £1000 grant, delivered by Business Gateway Highland. Your local start-up adviser can support you with your business idea going forward. If you are running a business in the Highland Council area there is also support through the growing business fund, with specialist advisory support and financial packages of up to £10,000.

The growth support is aimed at helping existing Highland businesses grow faster, whilst stimulating the Highland economy through profitability and employment. For more information on the growth fund Business Gateway Highland is the first point of contact to apply for the funding at our local offices or at Highland@bgateway.com.
