Proposal to discontinue provision of education at Duror Primary School
We have been seeking the views of local communities on the future of Duror Primary School.
We are proposing to discontinue the provision of education at Duror Primary, and to reallocate its catchment area to that of Ballachulish Primary School.
The views of parents, school pupils, the local community and others were sought over a period extending from 4 March 2024 to 3 May 2024. A public meeting was held on 16 April 2024 at Duror Primary School.
The public consultation period has now closed. We are currently considering the responses received.

Review of the proposal to establish Gaelic Medium catchment areas for Bun-Sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, Dingwall Primary, School, Millbank Primary School, Inverness Royal Academy, Dingwall Academy and Nairn Academy
We have published the Final Consultation Report into our proposal to establish Gaelic Medium catchment areas for Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Inbhir Nis, Dingwall Primary School, Millbank Primary School, Inverness Royal Academy, Dingwall Academy, and Nairn Academy.
The public consultation ran from 21 August 2023 to 27 October 2023.
The Final Consultation Report is to be submitted to the Highland Council’s Education Committee on 12 September 2024.
The Council has reviewed:
- all of the submissions
- the note of the meeting
- and the Education Scotland report
After carrying out the above review, officials have concluded the proposal offers educational benefits and should be implemented, but with two amendments. We will recommend this to the Committee.

Between now and midnight on 6 September, members of the public are invited to provide comments which will be tabled at the meeting of the Education Committee on 12 September. This will allow Elected Members to take into account any further representations in relation to the recommendation contained within the Consultation Report, before agreeing a decision.
