Development guidance - Uig Development Brief
-
Description
The Uig Development Brief covers the commercial core of Uig which lies immediately to the west of the Harbour. The purpose of the Brief is to provide a structured framework for guiding the physical development and transformation of the area over the next 20 years. A key part of this is to identify and coordinate development and regeneration opportunities, including those opportunities which may arise from Transport Scotland's investment in the Skye Triangle ferry service.
The Brief sets out details of an agreed vision for the area including the identification development sites, acceptable land uses, together with guidance on appropriate siting and design of development, phasing and service provision. In setting this out, the Brief provides a detailed planning policy framework which the Council will use to inform its decisions on future planning applications and help steer investment decisions.
Adoption as Non-Statutory Guidance
On 3 June 2019 the Isle of Skye and Raasay Area Committee approved the finalised version of the Uig Development Brief for adoption as Supplementary Guidance.
Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)
As with all plans, policies and strategies we produce, the supplementary guidance has been subject to a Strategic Environmental Assessment to assess the level of significance of any environmental impacts. Read the SEA Screening Report.
Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA)
The draft guidance was the subject of a Habitats Regulations Appraisal in respect of European conservation site interests. Read the HRA Record.
Equalities Impact Assessment (EqIA)
Equalities Impact Assessment screening was undertaken for the draft guidance which determined that a full EqIA will not be required. Read the EQIA Screening Report.
