Description
The motability scheme enables disabled people to obtain a car, powered wheelchair or scooter simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.
You can apply even if you do not drive yourself. You can apply as a passenger and propose two other people as drivers.
You can also apply if you have a child aged three or over who is entitled to the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance.

Who can claim
You may be eligible to join the motability scheme if you receive either the:
- Higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
- Higher rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
