School description
Muirtown Primary is situated in a residential area on the north-west side of Inverness overlooking the Moray Firth. Phase 1 of the building, which opened in 1976, comprises of classroom areas, dining, medical and administrative facilities and a gymnasium which incorporates a tea bar for community use. The Nursery Class and P1 – 3 classes are located in Phase 1 along with a Science/Music room and a Structured Activity room. Phase 2 of the building opened in August 1980 and the remaining five Primary 4 – 7 classes along with an Art room and a Library are in this area of the building. The school is involved in Dunain Community Woodland development and pupils have opportunities throughout the year to use our Forest classroom in the Future Forest above Craig Dunain. Muirtown Primary is an equal opportunities school. We are a busy, happy school. We promote Home/School partnership and have a very active Parent Council. We have Health Promoting status at Level 4, have achieved our Eco Schools Green Flag.
