Carer’s Allowance Supplement
Carer’s Allowance Supplement is an extra payment automatically made twice a year to people in Scotland who get Carer’s Allowance through the Department for Work and Pensions.
Social Security Scotland pays Carer's Allowance Supplement. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) pays Carer's Allowance. The DWP shares information with Social Security Scotland to allow them to make this payment.

Who can claim
To get Carer's Allowance Supplement you must:
- Live in Scotland on a particular date
- Be receiving Carer's Allowance payments on a particular date
The person you care for does not have to live in Scotland.

How to claim
If you live in Scotland and have already had Carer's Allowance payments on particular dates, you will get the extra payment and do not need to apply.
Social Security Scotland will write to you before each payment.
If you think you should have been paid Carer's Allowance Supplement, contact Social Security Scotland on 0800 182 2222 Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
