Description
We can provide free call blocker devices to Highland residents to prevent financial harm caused by nuisance and scam phone calls.
Your personal information is required to process applications, to supply and / or install a call blocker, to verify your identity where required, to contact you by post, email, or telephone, and to maintain our records.
Your personal information includes:
- your name
- your address
- your phone number
- your email
- details of others who help in your care or welfare
- any history of you being scammed or at risk of being scammed
The personal information you give to us and any other personal information we hold about you in this context, will be stored on a secure database and electronically to contact you should further information about your application be required.

If you don't give us your information
If you don't provide the necessary information, we will be unable to fulfil your request for a call blocker.

Conditions for processing personal information
We use your information to perform a task carried out in the public interest in the exercise of official authority, namely the task of preventing crime and protecting you from risk of financial harm in terms of The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007.

Who we share your information with
We may share your personal information with other organisations tasked with preventing crime and protecting you from risk of financial harm. This is usually other council departments, NHS Highland, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. We will only share your information where it is necessary to do so to meet your individual needs and we will ask your consent before we refer you for other services, unless an appropriate exemption exists.
Information is also analysed internally to give management information and inform future service delivery.

How long we hold your information
We’ll hold your information from the end of the year it was provided for a period of 6 years. Your information will be destroyed under confidential conditions after this period.
