An Islands Emergency Cost Crisis Fund has been developed by the Scottish Government to specifically recognise and help support the financial challenges faced by island communities. Initially this scheme covers Skye, Raasay, Muck, Eigg, and Rhum. -
Funding available
This fund will be used to automatically make a non-recurring cost of living payment of £127.00 per eligible household.

Eligibility
On 17 November 2023, households with their main residence on the Islands of Skye, Raasay, Muck, Eigg, or Rhum must either:
- have been entitled to and be in receipt of Council Tax Reduction due to low income
OR
- had a council tax liability and be receiving exemption due to being Cared For, a Care Leaver, being under 18, or who are certified as having a severe mental impairment as defined in council tax legislation.
Those who are eligible will receive a one-off payment of £127 per household, paid to the person primarily liable for Council Tax.

Where bank details have been provided for previous cost of living payments, payment will be made directly into bank accounts by 29 February 2024.
If bank details have not been provided previously, payment will be credited to the Council Tax account to secure this funding. Payment can then be refunded from the Council Tax account if required, once bank details have been provided.
Our staff will not cold call you to ask for bank details, and we will not employ third parties to gather bank information on our behalf.
