Privacy notices - Communication Support

We process personal data to facilitate, arrange, and administer bookings for the provision of a communication support service from Language Service Professionals (LSPs) such as British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreters when you need communication Support to access Highland Council, NHS Highland services, Highland Hospice or Highland Hospice Services.  Other requests may be considered at our discretion.

When you contact us to request an interpreter or other forms of communication support, we will ask you for certain personal details so that we can provide an effective service, this may include name, email address, phone number, etc. We do not collect more information than we need to fulfil communication support arrangements. 

In addition, we may use your information for the following purposes:

• To request feedback on the service
• To share information with you relevant to the Deaf Community

Who we share your information with?

Your details may be shared with organisations and individuals where this is relevant to arranging your appointment, this may include, for example NHS Highland staff, GP practices, opticians; other Highland Council services; and support organisations such as Citizens Advice

Your information may also be shared and analysed internally in order to provide management information, inform service delivery reviews and similar purposes to meet our duty to achieve best value and continuous service improvement.

If you don't give us your information

If you do not provide us with the information we have asked for, then we will not be able to provide this service to you.
