Foster care provides vital care to children and young people and is at the heart of our communities, enabling children to stay with foster families, local to everything they are familiar with already. Highland Council need more people to come forward and consider fostering.
We need foster carers who can look after infants, younger children, teenagers and brothers and sisters to keep them together, in an emergency and on a temporary basis or provide respite for children in their local community, who have a disability. We also need permanent carers for older children so they can remain with these carers for the remainder of their childhood.
Our foster carers also support each other and share skills and expertise.
This Foster Care Fortnight, Highland Council wants to celebrate the strength and resilience of our fostering communities, and all they do to ensure children are cared for and supported to thrive.
