Business Start-Up Support

We are committed to encouraging and supporting new business within the Highlands. Our Business Gateway service is fully funded though Highland Council and can support you with your business idea going forward.

Utilising The Business Gateway service with its extensive resources and experienced team can significantly enhance your chances of success.

Starting a business can be an exciting, yet challenging venture and we can help you navigate through some of the more complex issues. The service provides local one-to-one support to help your business get off the ground.

Grant support

The Highland Council start- up grant of £1000 is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It is available to new businesses who have started within the last twelve months or ready to start trading within the next 3 years providing they meet all eligibility conditions. For further information on the eligibility and to apply please contact your local Business Gateway Advisor Highland@bgateway.com. New businesses looking to apply for this grant should provide with their application:

  • Proof of ID (valid passport/driving licence)
  • Proof of residential address (a recent utility bill or council tax bill)
  • A bank statement from either a business account or an account used solely for business purpose
  • Business Outline and 6 month cashflow ( templates available from your Business Gateway Advisor).
