Flood alleviation schemes
River Peffery Flood Protection Study
Following the publication of The Highland Council's "Local Flood Risk Management Plan" in June 2016, the recommendation to carry out a detailed Flood Protection Study (FPS) (to also include a Natural Flood Management Study (NFMS)) for the entire River Peffery catchment commenced.
Working with consultants CH2M, The Highland Council aims to identify a sustainable combination of measures that will alleviate the risk of flooding to locations in Blairninich and Dingwall.
Both fluvial (from the rivers) and coastal flood risk during extreme events (incorporating increases for climate change) will be considered.
We have now identified a number of potential measures that can alleviate the flood risk to Dingwall and Blairninich.
Public exhibition from 28 August 2017 at the Dingwall Town Hall
Feedback forms and all other enquiries should be sent to frm@highland.gov.uk.
Further public exhibitions (with more detailed proposals) will be held in due course.
