Adults with incapacity
The Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000 helps us make decisions on behalf of adults who lack capacity to do so themselves because of a mental disorder or inability to communicate. The decisions may be about the person's property, financial affairs, welfare, including medical treatment.
Our practice guidance is based on:
- Adults with Incapacity (Scot) Act 2000
- Adults with Incapacity Procedures
- Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act 2003
- The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
