Access to the Countryside
The Highlands is a world class place to enjoy access to the outdoors which is appreciated by visitors and the local community alike. We have a duty to ensure the public can reasonably be expected to undertake recreational access rights, as provided by the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. For more information please see our Outdoor Access pages. You can view our core path plan via an online map viewer, core paths are intended to provide the public with a plan of paths and tracks to provide them with a sufficient local path network.
