Building Standards Performance
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Our Building Standards Team publishes three Key Performance Indicators on a monthly basis. These are measurements of key areas in delivering our service:
- KPI 1 - Percentage of Building Standards applications where first technical response is issued within 20 working days of validation
- KPI 2 - Percentage of Building Standards applications where first response is issued within 10 working days of receipt of completion certificate
- KPI 3 - Percentage of Building Standards applications where building warrant is issued within 6 working days of receipt of competent plans
Key Performance Outcomes (KPOs)
Our Building Standards Team also submit quarterly and annual reporting to the Scottish Government Building Standards Division. Read a summary of the current submission :

Building Standards Customer Charter
The purpose of the building standards system is to protect the public interest by ensuring buildings are safe for people to occupy/use. The system sets out the essential minimum standards that are required to be met when building work or conversion of a building takes place in order to meet building regulations.

National Customer Survey Platform to Support the Building Standards Verification Performance Framework 2024-25
In 2021, the Scottish Government commissioned Pye Tait Consulting to identify and propose a preferred model which the Scottish Government (Building Standards Division) could use to deliver the national customer survey for building standards.
