Additional Day's Leave - SJC Pay Award

The 2022/23 SJC Pay Award provides for one additional recurring day’s leave which will now provide staff with an annual leave provision of 21 days (28 days including 7 floating Public Holiday) rising to 26 days (33 days including 7 floating Public Holidays) after 5 years continuous service.  Provision will be prorated for part time staff.

For school-based staff who do not have flexibility when leave can be taken ie PSAs, Clerical, janitorial staff the additional day will be agreed each year to tie in with teachers inset day.  In the event that schools are closed to pupils as a result of strike action in January 2023, it would be our expectation that the additional annual leave day from 22/23 would be used if not already taken.

For employees on annualised hour contracts the extra day will form part of the calculation going forward. Further details on the hours calculation for 2022 will be made available in January 2023.

Staff who have a leave year 1 February to 31 January will have a carryover period of 6 months for the additional day allocated for 2022/23 leave year.  The extra day should be used no later than 31 July 2023.
