Planning permission
If, having followed one of the routes discussed, you have been advised that planning permission is required, the next step is to submit a planning application. It is also open to you to proceed straight to submission of a planning application.

Information to be provided with your application
The Highland Council has produced validation checklists which provides submission requirements. Please view the validation checklists for detailed information.
If the application is for a change of use of a dwellinghouse to a short term let, the type of information required includes:
- Location plan (metric scale of 1:2500; 1:1250 for urban sites)
- Site plan including existing and proposed parking provision and servicing (metric scale of 1:500 or 1:200)
- Existing and proposed floor plans indicating the number of letting bedrooms (metric scale of 1:50 or 1:100)
- Existing and proposed elevations if external alterations are proposed (metric scale of 1:50 or 1:100)
- Fee (Category 21 of the Fee Regulations)
