Corran Ferry live traffic camera policy

Policy details

The Corran Ferry live traffic cameras stream live views of the Corran Ferry queues on demand. Internet speeds can be slow, so despite the low-resolution images there can be some buffering. Images are not recorded. The views are fixed, and privacy zones are omitted.

These are provided to assist the travelling public in journey planning, always showing the extent of the ferry queues, including busy periods, special events or service disruption.

Consultation

Consultation with the local community is through the Corran Ferry Stakeholders Group, keeping the community informed about the live traffic cameras since they were requested as an additional contingency measure in 2023.

  • The views do not rotate. They are fixed views showing the extent of the ferry queues in the marshalling areas and approach road only, which are all public open space. They do not overlook private land.
  • Any parts of the images near private land have been permanently blacked-out (termed privacy zones).
