Support for Veterans
The following organisations provide a range of support services to veterans:
- Royal British Legion provides a range of practical support and advice.
- Poppyscotland offers tailored support and funding for the Armed Forces community. This includes advice, financial support, mobility housing and mental health.
- SSAFA support covers both regulars and reserves in the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the British Army and the Royal Air Force and their families, including anyone who has completed National Service. Contact your Inverness-shire & Western Isles SSAFA branch.
- The Veterans Welfare Service provides one-to-one support to veterans, their families, and dependants, via a network of welfare managers across the UK.
- Pensions for Veterans provides information relating to the Armed Forces Pension Schemes.
- Veterans UK provides free support for veterans and their families, including a helpline, Veterans Welfare Service, Defence Transition Services, and injury/bereavement compensation scheme payments.
- Forces Families Jobs is the go-to place for training, employment and volunteer roles for family members of currently serving UK military personnel.
- Naval, Army and RAF Families Federations provide confidential help on a variety of matters.
- Careers Transition Partnership provide resettlement services for those leaving the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Royal Marines.
- Seafarer Support provides guidance on the UK Maritime Charities Welfare Guide and guides you to the charity that is best suited to help. It covers the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Merchant Navy and more.
