British citizenship
To celebrate becoming a British citizen, the Government has introduced Citizenship Ceremonies.
Please contact The Home Office about how to apply for citizenship.
Becoming a British citizen is an important event in your life. You are joining a community made up of many different backgrounds, cultures and faiths. The Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 states that all applicants, aged 18 and over must take a citizenship oath and pledge at a ceremony conducted by a registrar.
Citizenship ceremonies are private and not open to the public. You can usually invite guests to your ceremony. When the Home Office has approved an application, you will be provided with contact details so that arrangements for their ceremony can be made. We hold ceremonies at various locations across Highland and there is normally no charge. We are happy to discuss these details with you.
