Council Tax - discounts for people
Care leavers
If a home is exclusively occupied by one or more care leavers, it is exempt from Council Tax.
If a person is a care leaver, they are not included ('disregarded') as occupiers for the purposes of calculating Council Tax.
A care leaver is a person who:
- Is over 18 years of age and under 26
- Has been looked after by a Local authority any time from their sixteenth birthday onwards
- Is no longer looked after by a local authority
