Restoration work to Alexandra Bridge in Tain underway

As many Tain walkers will know work has well and truly started on the Alexandra Bridge at Tain links. In fact, right now the bridge deck and the supporting hangers aren’t there at all - they have been taken down and removed for cleaning and restoration work.
Preliminary design work starts for new Black Isle bridge

Funding is in place, a topographical survey has been done and now preliminary design work has started for a replacement road bridge on the Black Isle after the original structure was damaged beyond repair during storms in January.

British Pipe Band Championships debut for Wester Ross young pipers and drummers

Work on Smart Cities projects to continue while funding application is considered

Following a submission to apply for European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to support “Scotland’s 8th City – the Smart City” Strategic Intervention, members have approved in principle, for the council to continued engagement with the Scottish Cities Alliance and Highland partners to progress a number of projects while the application is being considered.
Allocation of additional funding for Highland roads, bridges and flood alleviation schemes

At yesterdays (Wednesday 3 June) Planning, Development and Infrastructure Committee members agreed the final allocation of capital funds for road improvements, bridges and flood prevention schemes for the next three years.
Stromeferry update as two options are still considered

At yesterday’s (Wednesday 3 June) meeting of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Committee, Councillors were given an up- date on Stromeferry and following feedback from recent public consultation and discussions with stakeholders, the Committee have agreed to reduce the three options to two.
