Ardnamurchan High School Pupil success at FilmG
Congratulations to Kate Bradley, a pupil at Ardnamurchan High School, for her success in winning the 2017 FilmG Sports commentary award.
Kate who attended the award ceremony held at the old Fruit Market in Glasgow last Friday with her friends and family was looking forward to a good night, but was nervous in case she had to make a speech. Just before the interval after all the other youth awards, Alex O'Henley and Gemma Fay took to the stage to introduce the five nominations, all clips were shown and to the delight of all her friends, family and of course, school staff monitoring the event on line, Kate was announced as winner of the Sports Commentary award. Kate will go to a VIP game which BBC Alba will cover and will gain further experience and learn from the commentators there.
Speaking after the ceremony, Kate who is in S5 said: “When my name was read out, I was really excited, but it was a long walk to the stage (both mentally and physically) past loads of people I knew. My Gaidhlig teacher, Mr MacInnes had helped me prepare a speech in advance which I had in my pocket, but I was so nervous I forgot it and just made it up on the spot! I enjoy the media side of Gaelic and would be interested in keeping this up –especially as I play a lot of shinty anyway – alongside my career in the future.”
Head Teacher Christopher Millar-Craig said: “We are all very proud of Kate’s success, she is an excellent shinty player with a keen interest in the sport and in Gaelic. We very much hope she will keep an amateur interest in both and hope to see more of her on BBC Alba in the future. Meal do Naidheachd Ceit!
