Parking permits price increase in Inverness and Lochaber

The Highland Council is informing Council parking permit holders in Inverness and Lochaber that with immediate effect there is a 10% increase on charges as agreed in the Council’s 2017/18 budget.

The price increase affects all Highland Council parking permits and season parking tickets in Inverness and Lochaber and included contract bays at the Rose Street multi-storey car park in Inverness.

Permits affected include:

  • resident's or visitor permits;
  • senior citizens resident’s permit;
  • business and business visitor permits;
  • contract parking and
  • replacement of lost or damaged permits.

Where parking charges apply, blue badge holders are exempt. Where disabled badge holders previously received free residents parking permits this will continue to remain free of charge.

The decision to increase the charges for parking permits was made by Highland Councillors at the Council’s 2017/18 Budget meeting on 16 February 2017 - see Booklet B (page 67). The Council’s budget gap for 2017/18 has been identified at £20.344m and this price increase is one of a package of measures which aims to achieve £ 0.334m savings which will help the Council to deliver a balanced budget in 2017/18.
