Walks and Events in Wester Ross this May

What better time to join The Highland Council’s Countryside Rangers for a guided walk than in the month of May when the weather tends to be better and the midges are still largely absent?

Wester Ross has three events dotted about its scenic countryside this month. The first takes place on the Applecross peninsula, heading away from the crowds to visit one of the Mountain Bothy Association bothies at Uags. This walk takes place on the Wednesday 17 May from 10:30am until 4pm.

The next event takes place on Monday 22 May at Red Point near Gairloch. Volunteers are invited to join the Rangers and members of Hostelling Scotland SYHA for a much needed spring beach clean up.  Home baking will be provided and this s a great chance to make new friends, do your bit for the environment and enjoy being outdoors in a beautiful location.

Heading north to the Coigach peninsula on Wednesday 31 May, there is a guided walk from Achnahaird to Garvie Bay near Achiltibuie. Why not join Ranger Jenny Grant to look at the fascinating geology and the wildlife dependent on the underlying rocks. This walk takes place from 10:30am to 3pm.

Both of the guided walks cost £9 per adult (£5 for concessions) while the beach clean is free. For all of the events, please call or email Jenny to book or for more information; 01854 613904, jenny.grant@highland.gov.uk
