Temporary road closures in and around Inverness next week
Drivers are being advised that as part of the ongoing West Link Stage 1 works it will be necessary to close Bught Road and Bught Lane from the entrance to Whin Park to the roundabout at the Inverness Leisure Aquadome from Monday the 29th May for up to 4 weeks.
Vehicular access to the Aquadome and Whin Park via Bught Drive and Bught Road will be unaffected but there will be no access to the Botanic Gardens on Bught Lane. Pedestrian access to all facilities will be unaffected. The Contractor has carried out full consultation with the Botanic Gardens, Aquadome and emergency services.
These works are required to allow utilities connection to the new Highland Rugby Club building and both the Contractor Wills Bros and The Highland Council apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Elsewhere across the area next week other temporary road restrictions will be in place.
A section of the B862 Fort Augustus - Whitebridge - Torness - Dores - Inverness Road will be temporary closed to traffic between the hours of 9am and 3.30pm from Monday until Friday 2 June. This is to allow resurfacing works to be carried out to a section of carriageway. The area affected is approximately 1.1 kilometres south from the B862 junction with the B852 Dalcrag Bridge – Foyers – Inverfarigaig – Dores Road to a point approximately 1.5 kilometres north from its junction with the C1064 Inverness – Ashie Moor Road. During the hours of closure, drivers should use an alternative route.
From Wednesday 31 May a section of the U1556 Drumchardine Road at Kirkhill will be closed to traffic from 9am to 5pm. The closure, which affects a section of road 600 metres South East from its junction with the A862 Ardullie – Inverness Road, is required so BT Engineers can safely access an underground structure to maintain their apparatus which is located within the public road.
Finally, from 9.30am to 3.30pm a short section of the U1671 Fort Augustus Old Main Road will be temporarily closed to vehicles to allow contractors, working on behalf of BT Openreach, to carry out maintenance to their apparatus.
