Highland Children’s Book Awards winners uncovered.
This weekend the winners of The Highland Council’s first Highland Children’s Book Awards will be announced at a ceremony held in Charleston Academy on Saturday 30th September to coincide with the 2006 Inverness Book Festival.
Organised by the Council’s Library Service and sponsored by Falck Renewables and Anta Pottery, pupils from 15 secondary and 54 primary schools have taken part.
Children and teenagers have enthusiastically read and written reviews on the Highland schools virtual library web site and voted for winners in three categories: long novel, short novel and picture book.
Authors Thomas Bloor, Heather Dyer, Stuart Hill and Sophie Smiley will be present. The awards will be presented by Dale Pryde Macdonald, a pupil at Golspie High School.
