Sutherland Councillors express severe disappointment at BT no show
For the second time running BT have not taken up the opportunity to send a representative to the Sutherland County Committee so elected members can hold face-to-face discussions and raise issues and concerns on behalf of their constituents.
On the agenda for last week’s Committee the second item was “BT Openreach update” and a representative from BT was expected to attend but despite accepting the invitation, for a second local Committee in a row no one attended and apologies were not received until after the meeting had started.
Sutherland County Committee Chair, Cllr Linda Munro said: “This is unprecedented but sadly reflects the experience of many of our constituents. We are troubled that for the second time in a row BT have not deemed the ongoing concerns of our constituents or status of our committee worthy of attending. Our constituents deserve better. The invitation was issued so we could specifically raise concerns and get reassurances and answers on the behalf of the people we represent.
“The communities across Sutherland all speak highly of the engineers on the ground but this is about the management of the work load and investment in our infrastructure, in short it’s about delivering a fit for purpose service. All Sutherland members are united on this issue and we will be sending a letter to BT expressing our severe disappointment on how the folk of Sutherland are being treated and requesting that their Chief Executive takes the concerns our communities seriously and comes along to our next committee.”
