Inverness BID 5-year term supported by City Committee

A draft business plan for a new 5-year term for the Inverness Business Improvement District - Inverness BID Ltd has received the support of Members of The Highland Council’s City of Inverness Area Committee.

Members have today (30 November) agreed to recommend to the meeting of the full Highland Council on 14 December 2017 that support is given by the Council for a new 5-year term for Inverness City Centre BID when its business ballot is held on 22 March 2018.

The draft new business plan for Inverness BID highlights the links with the Council’s Programme and city priorities and focuses on marketing and enhancing the city centre; engaging and championing the city centre; and reinforcing a safe and welcoming city centre.

Provost and Leader of Inverness and Area Cllr Helen Carmichael said: “Members are in agreement that the presence of Inverness BID continues to enhance the viability of Inverness city centre - all of which ties in with the Council’s objectives set out in the Inverness City Centre Development Brief.

“The contributions made by Inverness BID to operational projects can be seen as ‘adding value’ to the services provided by Highland Council or its partners in the public sector. A number of them would not be deliverable by the Council or would cost more to do so.”

If successful in achieving a ‘yes’ vote from the majority of city centre businesses Inverness BID would continue for a further 5 years until March 2023. Inverness BID has been in existence since 1 April 2008.
