Highland Council office move to Charles Kennedy Building
The Highland Council is advising its customers that some services will be affected with the closure of its Fulton House office and move to new offices in Charles Kennedy Building in Fort William between Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th December.
The services which are moving are:
- Environment, Development and Infrastructure (Planning and Building Standards);
- Community Services (Environmental Health) and
- Finance (business support staff).
All ICT (computing and telephony) at Fulton House will be shut down on Tuesday 12th, with phones being disconnected on the Wednesday 13th December. ICT is planned for reconnection on Thursday 14th so services should be fully operational again on Friday 15th December.
Phone calls will be forwarded to other Council numbers and signs erected on the doors of the Fulton House office advising people to go to the Service Point during the office move.
The Charles Kennedy Building was the former Fort William Secondary school B-listed building, which has been regenerated and modernised with an extension to accommodate the Department of Works and Pensions and Job Centre Plus on the ground floor. The new name for the building is in tribute to the work of the late Charles Kennedy MP who attended Lochaber High School and represented the Highlands from 1983 until 2015.
The project has breathed new life into the listed building which has lain empty for twenty five years, transforming it into new Council offices to serve not just Fort William but the whole of Lochaber.
