Glenelg and Arnisdale bus user group celebrate sale of 1000 tickets for their community run on-request taxi service

Mrs. Elizabeth Ralston Chair of Glenelg and Arnisdale Bus User Group (BUG) said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the sale of the 1000th ticket for our on-request taxi service which works to keep our remote community connected with City Link buses to and from Inverness and Glasgow and Isle of Skye.

“We give heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported us: Highland Council for their grant; Glenelg Village Shop which sells the tickets; Skyeways our transport provider; Mr. Christpher Main for dealing with social media; all the members of the committee and the community, and their friends and visitors who have generously given their support.”

Mr. David Summers Transport Development Officer with The Highland Council said: “Highland Council has been very pleased to support the Glenelg initiative firstly as a pilot project and now as one of the 25 community transport schemes which we fund.  The milestone of 1000 tickets sold shows that the scheme has proved to be sustainable and it is a valuable local service.”
