Free Dog microchipping events in Inverness and Nairn
The Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity has teamed up with The Highland Council to provide drop-in free microchipping events for dogs in Inverness and Nairn.
On Monday 26 March from 12 noon to 4pm owners and their 4-legged friends are invited to come along to Barn Church on Culloden House Avenue to meet Dogs Trust representatives and council staff who will be offering to micro-chip dogs for free and will be available to answer any general queries. There will also be a free basic health check for your pooch, health and training advice information leaflets, free Poo bags and free collar ID tags.
On Tuesday 27 the same team will be at the Links Car Park in Nairn from 10.30am until 1.30pm.
It is now a legal requirement to have your dog micro-chipped. Microchipping is a simple and effective tool which helps to rapidly reunite lost or straying pets with their owners.
Councillor Allan Henderson, Chair of the Council’s Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee said: “The Council commends the work of the Dogs Trust and we would encourage as many people as possible to bring their dogs along and as well as getting them microchipped pick up some top tips for keeping them in the best of health. As a Council we promote dog owners to be responsible for their pets and this includes making sure they are micro-chipped. Not only is it the law now to do so but it gives pet owners the reassurance that should their pet become lost or be stolen, he or she is more likely to be returned to them safe and sound.”
