Belgian bequeath benefits City of Inverness
The Provost of Inverness and Area has written to the executors of the will of the late Ms Lydia Geernaert to express her thanks on behalf of the people of the City of Inverness for Ms Geernaert’s kind bequeath of fifteen thousand euros to the City of Inverness (Scotland).
In her letter Provost Carmichael explains:
“This most generous gift (after conversion) amounting to the sum of £11,939.76 has been placed in the City of Inverness Common Good Fund which is dedicated to benefit the residents of the Burgh of Inverness.”
She adds: “I am sure I speak for the citizens of Inverness and my fellow Inverness Councillors in saying how proud it makes me feel to know that Ms Geernaert felt such a strong connection with our wonderful City.”
Ms Geernaert was born in the city of Ghent in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is believed that she may have visited or spent some holiday time in Inverness, hence the generous donation.
