Update on Caol and Lochyside Flood Protection Scheme 2018

The Highland Council has today (30th of April 2018) published the scheme documents for the planned flood protection scheme for Caol and Lochyside. All parties with an interest in the scheme have been notified by letter or provided with a copy of the notice. The notice has also been published in the relevant newspapers.

There is a 28 day period for objections to the scheme which is open until the 28th of May 2018. 

The scheme documents can be inspected at the following locations:

  • The Highland Council, Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX, between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Caol Library, Glenkingie Steet, Caol, PH33 7DS, Monday 2pm – 5pm; Tuesday 10am – 1pm, 4pm – 7pm; Wednesday 2pm – 5pm; and Thursday 10am – 1pm; Friday 5pm – 8pm.
  • At Caol Community Centre, Glenkingie Steet, Caol, PH33 7DS, on Wednesday 16th May, between 2pm and 7pm.  This will take the form of a drop-in session with Council Officers available to answer queries about the scheme.

Council officials and the Council’s consultant will also hold an information event on the 16th of May in Caol Community Centre between 2pm and 7pm and will be available for questions and can provide information on the scheme and the objection procedure.

The proposed scheme forms part of the Council’s Local Flood Risk Management Plan and the Caol and Lochyside scheme is one of a number of schemes in Highland which will be implemented within the next 6 years. The Council hopes to proceed to construction of the scheme in 2019/20 following the completion of the statutory process and detailed design.
