Temporary road closure B970 Aviemore

The Highland Council is notifying motorists that there will be a temporary road closure of the B970 Kingussie – Inverdruie – Aviemore – Coylumbridge – Nethybridge – Speybridge Road from its junction with the U2079 Dalfaber Road in a westerly direction for a distance of 300 metres

The temporary closure will be from 7 - 7.30pm until 10 - 10.30pm on Wednesday 30 May 2018. Diversions will be in place for the duration of the temporary closure.

The closure had been requested by the Aviemore Holiday Park for crane access to lift static houses and for the prevention of all vehicular traffic to provide a safe working area for works being carried out by Aviemore Holiday Park.

Access will be provided for emergency services only and pedestrians.  

While the temporary road closure is from 7pm - 10:30pm as soon as the crane operation is completed safely, the road will be reopened as soon as possible in order to keep disruption to a minimum for all concerned.  

Police Scotland is fully informed and access arrangements are in place for emergency vehicles.

Diversions will be in place as follows:

  • For North bound traffic on the A9 there will be diversion signs in place at Kingussie junction to divert them onto the B970 (and onwards to the ski road junction at Inverduie via Insh and Feshiebridge).
  • For South bound traffic on the A9 there will be diversion signs in place at Carrbridge to divert them onto the B9153 to Boat of Garten and the B970 (and onwards to the ski road junction at Coylumbridge).
  • There will be similar diversion signage on the B9152 (old A9) directing local traffic.
  • For West bound traffic on the A95 there will be diversion signs in place at Grantown-on-Spey to divert them onto the B970 (and onwards to the ski road junction at Coylumbridge via Nethy Bridge).
