Gairloch Environmental Improvements

People living in the Gairloch Community Council area are invited to attend public consultation sessions to be held on Wednesday 12th September, from 3-5pm and from 7-9pm.

The event is being held in the annexe of Gairloch Community Centre and aims to invite comments from local people on how funds currently available for Environmental Improvements in the area should be spent.  The Highland Council Planning and Development Service currently has available some £118,000 for the area over the next three financial years.

Projects should meet one or more of these criteria:
• be of clear benefit to the local community;
• contribute to the local environment or landscape by enhancing its existing quality;
• conserve, create or enhance the wildlife and natural history of the area;
• enhance features in the cultural environment which add to the local character;
• increase awareness and understanding of the local natural and/or cultural heritage; and
• remove dereliction or blight.

Preliminary discussions have been held with the Community Council, and the public are invited to come along to view the current proposals and to give their opinions and suggestions on these, as well as any other projects they would like to see taking place.  Staff from The Highland Council Planning & Development Service will also be present to discuss any aspects of the projects with those who wish to attend.

The sessions are informal and open to all, and locals are invited to drop in for as long or as short a time as they wish to view the displays and offer their opinions
