Re-modelling and Re-branding Victorian Market
The City of Inverness Area Committee has given the go ahead for the next steps to deliver an Action Plan for the Victorian Market that will build a business case for the remodelling of the Market Hall.
The Victorian Market is an asset of the Inverness Common Good Fund which is managed by The Highland Council on behalf of the Trustees of the Common Good Fund.
In November The Highland Council appointed Jo Murray as the Victorian Market Manager to focus on marketing, events and transformational projects to increase footfall and economic spend and ensure the Markets’ long term sustainability.
Work will now continue to build this case during 2018/9 taking into account the predisposition towards increased leisure spending, the declining rate of footfall and the effects of online retailers.
Speaking after the Committee decision to progress the Action Plan Jo said: “Working with our Stakeholders, Market Retailers and business partners we hope to create a re-designed Victorian Market Hall which thrives with independent businesses and Scottish brands in a welcoming environment that exploits the fantastic Victorian architecture that is currently underexposed.”
