Council Leader welcomes clarity about LifeScan

In response to Johnson & Johnson’s announcement of their acceptance of a binding offer from Platinum Equity to acquire Lifescan, Inc the Leader of The Highland Council, Cllr Margaret Davidson has welcomed the clarity about the Inverness plant’s ownership.

Cllr Davidson said: “This is a very important Highland industry providing high quality jobs in the Highlands which is profitable and has every expectation of continuing to be so. The research and development carried out by Lifescan in Inverness is world leading. 

“I am very keen to meet with Platinum Equity to hear what their intensions for the company are. I will be seeking an early meeting with the new owners to discuss their future plans for one of the Highland’s major employers.”

She added: “Lifescan’s new owners  Platinum Equity have the strongest of chances to continue developing their base in Inverness as part of a growing Highland economy and to work with partners such as the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and the Diabetes Institute at the Centre for Health Sciences on ground breaking research.”
