Work starts on replacement White Bridge
Work to build a new crossing to replace the B9090 White Bridge that spans the River Nairn starts this week.
Dingwall based R J McLeod (Contractors) Ltd will be on site to start the realignment work along the route between Clephanton and Cawdor which will include building a new bridge upstream of the existing masonry arch bridge which currently has an 18T weight limit.
White Bridge is one the oldest bridges maintained by the Council and is a ‘Category A’ Listed structure. It has a humped vertical alignment and carries single file traffic in both directions, subject to traffic control signals.
The £2.65m project will create a new section of road leading to a new crossing so the existing route will remain open to drivers during the works. However, all road users are being reminded that there is a 18T weight limit. Any vehicles exceeding this limit should use the diversion route via the A96, A939 and B9101 roads.
The works are expected to be completed by Autumn 2019.
