Torvean Gateway community event
Views are being invited on the development of a new gateway to the city of Inverness at Torvean. Opportunities include new park land, places for new shops, cafes and tourist accommodation, and a new city neighbourhood.
As details of Stage 2 of the West Link road emerge The Highland Council is seeking views on future land uses around the new road, including land vacated by Torvean Golf Club.
On Wednesday 5th September from 2-7pm a consultation workshop will be held at Canal Parks Pavilion, Highland Rugby Club, Inverness (here) where the public are invited to share their ideas to help the Council develop a new masterplan for the area.
Following the successful delivery of Stage 1 of West Link, the second stage brings opportunities to create a gateway to the city and the Great Glen alongside the Caledonian Canal. The Council is encouraging anyone with an interest helps to shape the future of this area at this early stage before formal a public consultation on a draft masterplan this Autumn.
Inverness City Provost, Helen Carmichael said: "This event provides a great opportunity for the local community and interest groups to join the Council in identifying how land around the road can the reused. I encourage anyone with an interest to come along, whenever they can, to chat with the design team, have their views heard and influence the future of this unique area."
