African Drumming Performance
Dingwall will be moving and shaking to the rhythm of African drumming on Friday 15th July, as Steve Sharp leads a gathering of children from all over Ross and Cromarty in a Happiness Drumming Circle on Dingwall High Street.
Steve is making a welcome return to the area after the success of last year’s workshops and throughout this week he has been holding drumming workshops for Out of School Clubs in Tain, Alness, Invergordon, Strathpeffer, Dunglass, North Kessock, Culbokie and Dingwall.
Organised by The Highland Council’s Community Learning and Leisure team as part of their summer activities programme, the workshops have enabled the participants, all aged between 5 and 12 years, to have fun experimenting with traditional African music and rhythm using a wonderful range of percussion instruments.
Friday’s event will be the culmination of the week enabling the children to enjoy sharing their creativity in the Creative Drum circle with the emphasis on having fun, working together and making new friends.
The performance will begin at 3.00pm in Dingwall High Street and promises to be a magnificent celebration of African music. So why not come along and join in the fun?
