New Head of Education appointed by Highland Council

Dr James Vance, Head Teacher at Culloden Academy has been appointed as interim Head of Education Services with The Highland Council’s Care and Learning Service.

Dr Vance, who starts his new employment in January 2019, will be based at the Council’s headquarters on Glenurquhart Road, Inverness.

He was Head Teacher at Culloden Academy for the past 6 years prior to which he was Head Teacher at Golspie High School since March 2010.

Before moving to Highland Council, Dr Vance was Depute Rector at Banff Academy and earlier taught at Fraserburgh Academy in Aberdeenshire. James’ specialist teaching subject is History and he has worked for the SQA as a marker and vetter at various levels and in quality assuring Advanced Higher.

Dr Vance replaces Jim Steven who is retiring.
