Landfill Communities Fund

Members of the Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee, today considered a presentation on the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund.

Scottish Landfill Communities Fund is available to communities within 10 miles of a registered landfill site, open or closed, or a waste transfer station.  The aim of the scheme is to empower communities to enhance their environment and schemes funded in the past include play areas, improvement to community halls, and environmental projects.

In Highland the value of the fund is approx. £250,000 per year.
