Funding for new Dornoch Development Officer approved
At the Sutherland County Committeeheld in Golspie on Thursday (15 November) members gave their backing to Dornoch Area Community Interest Company’s (DACICA) proposal to create a Community Development Manager Post.
DACIC was set up in 2007 as a voluntary organisation to enhance and develop the economy and community of the Sutherland town.
The Company have been successful in securing £50,000 from SSE Beatrice Fund to go towards employing a full time Community Development Manager for two years to focus on fund raising and project management with a particular focus on promoting the Dornoch Hub.
In a report , presented to Sutherland Councillors DACIC outlined their plans and applied to the Dornoch Common Good Fund for £20,000 to be paid over two years. They will also contribute £3,873 from their own funds to support the new post.
After members unanimously agreed to contribute £20,000 from the Common Good Fund, Chair of the Committee, Richard Gale said: “I’m happy to support this application for funding to go towards this new post. DACICA has a strong history of delivering projects in the town and I believe the moneyfrom the Common Good Fund over the next 2 years will be well spent.”
