Evacuation Merkinch Primary School - Inverness

Due to a suspected gas leak, pupils and staff of Merkinch Primary School have been evacuated as a precaution this morning (10 Jan 2019)  to St Michael and All Angels' Church, 28 Abban Street Inverness,  IV3 8HH.

All pupils and staff are safe and well.

Parents and carers are asked to collect their children from the church as soon as they can.  Children who cannot be collected will be cared for at the church until parents and carers can collect them.

Pupils in P6 and P7 are at an event at Inverness High School and were unaffected by this incident, but are now being taken to the Church with the rest of the school, parents can collect them from there.  

The school / council are working with the emergency services who are carrying out checks.
