Highland Play Award winners announced
The Parent Council at Millbank Primary School in Nairn are the winners of the 2019 annual Play Highland Award and are celebrating after receiving £1000 to help towards their play projects.
The Highland Council in association with Play Highland, offer this annual award to the group, organisation or community that has done the most to promote self-directed free play with daily access to the outdoors.
Millbank Primary School Parent Council were able to demonstrate the innovative use of the outdoors and loose parts which includes an outdoor classroom with wheelchair access. The judges were most impressed by the focus on inclusion and a sense of real community spirit and collaboration that was evident in the application.
The Play Improvement Group was once again impressed by the very high standard of applicants for this year’s Awards.
Chair Sandra Harrington, The Highland Council’s Senior Manager for Early Years said: “Yet again we thoroughly enjoyed reading about all of the excellent projects and play opportunities being provided across Highland. The standard was very high, and we would like to offer many congratulations to Millbank Primary School Parent Council. We hope that this donation will enable them to continue to develop and expand their model of inclusive play.”
The award was presented by Play Highland to Alison Wiseman and her daughter Hannah a pupil at Millbank Primary, at the Pop Up Play Event on Saturday 30th March at the Eastgate Centre Inverness.
