New flagship Service Point for Dingwall
The Dingwall Service Point is set to open its doors at a new location. The enhanced customer facility, delivering Service Point and Registrar functions, will be co-located within the Dingwall Council Building at 84 High Street from Tuesday 14th May.
Works, creating a new modern Service Point for local communities, were carried out by Morrison Construction and provides one-door access to a wide range of Council Services locally.
Council staff were involved in both the design and layout at the new location which helps meet both customer and business needs. The move also enables Corporate Resources Services implement more efficient ways of working across different services.
Chair of the Corporate Resources Committee, Dingwall and Seaforth Ward Councillor Alister MacKinnon said: “Our local Service Point will be held up as an excellent example of what can be achieved. Essentially it is a new community hub. One of the enhanced new services I am particularly pleased to see is the digital suite where customers will have easy access, with helpful staff on hand to provide assistance. Customers will also notice the improved meeting room facilities which allow increased confidentiality.”
The move frees up the Ross House High Street site to allow the council and its partners to build 12 new affordable town centre homes for rent with two new retail units incorporated as part of the redevelopment scheme that will support a vibrant local economy, and potentially offer local employment opportunities.
Councillor MacKinnon added: “As well as maintaining close links to the community, sharing good practice between different professionals and offering a high level of support, the move from the existing service point at Ross House supports our Asset Management Strategy to better utilise existing properties that we own. It paves the way for the regeneration of a key High Street site to provide much needed affordable homes and new retail opportunities.”
To facilitate the move, the Ross House Service Point will close as normal at 4.30pm on Thursday 9th May and will reopen at its new location at 9.30am on Tuesday 14th May.
Service Point staff are making customers aware of the changes but anyone requiring assistance with Registration when the office is closed should contact Inverness Registration Office on 01349 781131 and the Highland Council Service Centre on 01349 886606 for all other enquiries.
